Child & Teen Therapy · Stamford & Greenwich, CT

Therapy for children and teens with ADHD and anxiety, with parents as part of the work.

When a child is struggling, the whole family feels it. I work with children and teens to understand what's underneath the meltdowns, shutdowns, or school stress, and to build skills that make everyday life feel more manageable. Parents are involved throughout, so what happens in sessions carries over at home.

Who I Work With

What brings families in

Some families come in after a recent diagnosis. Others simply know that things at home or school have gotten harder than they should be.

Children

  • Big emotional reactions, meltdowns, or shutdowns
  • Trouble with transitions, routines, and following directions
  • Worry, fears, or stomachaches before school
  • Frustration at home around homework and follow-through
Ages 6–11

Teens

  • Procrastination and falling behind as schoolwork gets harder
  • Social anxiety or pulling away from friends
  • Harsh self-criticism and feeling like they're always behind
  • Tension at home around responsibility and independence
Ages 12–17

How I Work

What therapy looks like

My approach is relational and collaborative. Children and teens make the most progress when they feel understood, and when the adults around them are on the same page.

1

Free consultation

A 20-minute call with a parent to talk through what you're noticing and whether working together makes sense.

2

Getting to know your child

Early sessions focus on understanding your child's world: what's hard, what's working, and what they care about. For younger children, I meet with parents first.

3

Building skills

Together we work on emotional regulation, coping with worry, and practical tools for school and home, in ways that fit your child's age and personality.

4

Ongoing parent check-ins

Regular time with parents so you know what we're working on and how to support it at home and with school.

Understanding first, then tools that fit.

Many kids with ADHD or anxiety have heard plenty of advice about what they should be doing differently. What helps more is understanding why things keep going wrong, and building skills from there.

For teens especially, therapy is a place to make sense of their own patterns with less self-criticism, and to start taking ownership of the strategies that work for them.

Questions from parents

How involved will I be as a parent?

Quite involved. For younger children, much of the work happens through parents, alongside sessions with your child. With teens, I balance giving them their own space with keeping parents informed about the overall direction of our work.

Does my child need an ADHD diagnosis to start therapy?

No. Many children start therapy without a diagnosis. If questions about ADHD come up, we can talk about whether an ADHD assessment would be helpful.

How often are sessions?

Sessions are typically weekly to start. We adjust the pace as things improve, with regular check-ins on how things are going.

Are sessions in person or online?

In-person sessions are available at my offices in Stamford and Greenwich, CT, convenient for families throughout Fairfield and Westchester Counties. Telehealth is also available.

Do you accept insurance?

I am an out-of-network provider. I can provide a superbill for you to submit to your insurance for potential reimbursement. Many clients are able to recover a significant portion of fees this way.

Wondering if therapy could help your child?

A free consultation is a good place to start. We'll talk through what you're noticing and figure out the right next step together.
